  1. A cup of water

  2. Half a lemon

  3. Grated Ginger

  4. Pepper powder

  5. Honey


  1. In a cup of hot filtered water, add finely chopped one inch of ginger.

  2. Let the ginger steep in the water for about 2 minutes.

  3. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and sprinkle a pinch of pepper.

  4. Add a teaspoon of honey if you like it sweet.

2. Cinnamon Citrus Tonic

  1. A cup of water

  2. 1 Cinnamon stick

  3. 1 Fresh turmeric root, roughly chopped

  4. 1  knob of ginger, roughly chopped

  5. 1 Lemon

  6. 1 Orange

  7. 1 tbsp honey

  8. Mint


  1. In a saucepan heat a cup of water.

  2. Add cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric, and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes.

  3. Add lemon and orange juice, honey, and fresh mint.

  4. Strain out the residue and the tonic is ready.

3. Basil Leaves Tea (Tulsi Chai)

As most of the Indian homes have a Tulsi plant also known as holy Tulsi, it is the easiest to make a tonic. Additionally, it is important to know that this wonderful potion is multipurpose and will help save you from cough and cold and even when you have headaches.   1. A cup of water

  5. 1 tbsp honey


  1. In a saucepan boil the water.

  2. Add the tea leaves and basil leaves and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle the pepper and add honey.

  4. Strain and serve or have it.

4. The Golden Milk Tonic

The easiest way to boost up immunity is this wonder milk. This recipe is an ancient Indian legacy, passed down from one generation to the other for hundreds of years. The strength of this tonic is in turmeric. Turmeric contains natural curcumin that is an anti-inflammatory agent. It’s very good for people who have pains.


  1. A glass of milk

  2. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  3. 2-3 peppercorns crushed

  4. Honey (or maple) syrup


  1. Boil the milk with turmeric and peppercorns

  2. Add some honey or maple syrup to add the taste.

5. Ginger- Beet Juice

  1. 1 Beet large - peeled and cut in wedges

  2. 1 inch peeled ginger

  3. 1 Medium Apple cut into wedges

  4. 2-4 Kale leaves (if available)

  5. 1 Carrot peeled and cut long

  6. 1 Orange (Peeled, deseeded)

  7. No Sugar to be added


  1. Process all the fruits and veggies through the juicer. In case you don’t have a juicer, then blend in a mixer and run through a soup strainer or a muslin cloth.

  2. Pour the juice into the glass and add ice cubes if you want it cold.
